Atlas is a complete tutor for children that adapts to the conditions it finds: the lesson runs with no signal, it works on a low-end Android phone, and it costs $5 a month for every child on the device, or less if the family sets its own price.

What does it mean that Atlas is for everyone?

It means that a precondition is a wall and an adaptation is a slope. Nearly every product in this category requires something before it will work at all: a network, a child who can already read, an adult with an email address, a donated tablet, a school. With a wall you are either over it or you are out. With a slope the product is worse in worse conditions, and still works.

And a family is not in one bucket forever. Connectivity arrives and disappears. A phone is sold, shared or replaced. A household moves. A product built on a precondition fails exactly when circumstances change — and circumstances change most for the families with the least.

Does Atlas work if I have no internet at home?

Yes, and it works just as well if you have it all day. No connection ever, an intermittent one, or a permanent one: same product, same price. The learning session does not touch the network in any of the three cases; only what happens around it changes.

Nobody else spans all three, and you do not have to take our word for it — it is in what those companies publish about themselves. Khan Academy Kids, in its own help centre: “wifi is required initially in order to create your Khan Kids account.” A child in an unconnected village cannot finish first run. Google Read Along genuinely works offline, and Google says it “works best for children who already have some basic knowledge of the alphabet” — it breaks on the child who cannot read yet. onecourse has the best evidence in the world for a child like ours and ships on donated tablets, with no way to buy one.

Does it run on a cheap phone?

Atlas is built against real phones from the installed base, not against a flagship: 2 GB of RAM and Android 10 at the floor, more if you have it.

A better phone holds more content. It does not get a better tutor. The sequencing, the mastery estimate and the curriculum are identical on all of them. A child on a cheap phone is not learning a lesser curriculum.

And we never bundle hardware. The entire economics of this product rest on the family already owning the phone.

What if I can't afford $5?

$5 a month is the list price. $4, $3, $2 or $1 if you set it yourself — approved automatically, no application. And a scholarship at $0, with an application we keep deliberately narrow so that it stays available to the families who need it.

It is per device, with every child on it included. So the price does not multiply with your family.

The comparison that makes the point is not the cheapest one. It is the closest one.

The difference is not a discount. It is a different shape. A product priced per subject per child has to multiply with your house. One priced per device does not.

What ages is it for?

Atlas is built for K-12 and starts with the early years. Content is scoped per grade, so the whole corpus never has to live on one phone at once: each child carries what they are working on, and the rest arrives whenever a connection does.

The hardest test of best. Every alternative is available there, several cost nothing and several are excellent. A product that wins only on price does not win here.

Lima

The middle of the curve, and the most common case: a connection that comes and goes, a phone that gets shared, and a family that can pay something.

Loreto

The hardest test of everyone. No signal, the phone already in the house, and no adult free to sit down and explain.

The same product, at the same price, has to work in all three. That is the test that can falsify this page. If it only works in Loreto it is a charity. If it only works in Los Angeles it is another consumer app. A company that needed a different build per city would already have disproved it.
